New York City Holiday Ice Skating

Ice skating is a seasonal tradition for New Yorkers and the city’s visitors. The skating rinks typically run from mid-October through March (weather dependent), or you can head to Chelsea Piers or the City Ice Pavilion on Long Island for year-round indoor skating. While Rockefeller Center is the most famous rink, it is also the busiest (and actually quite small), so take a look at our list and find the venue that most appeals to you. Skating at Bryant Park is free; or if you would enjoy Central Park, there are two options - Laser Rink or Wollman Rink.

Holiday Ice Skating Locations

Citi Pond at Bryant Park Run Dates: na Bryant Park New York Phone: 212-661-6640 Citi Pond is the centerpiece of Bryant Park's winter season, which also includes the annual Holiday Shops at Bryant Park. The 170' x 100' rink features free admission ice skating, in addition to high quality rental skates, skating shows, special events, and activities.

City Ice Pavilion Run Dates: Year-Round 47-32 32nd Place Long Island City Phone: 718-706-6667 This year-round facility is located on Long Island and hosts public skating, as well as organized and open hockey, skating lessons, and parties. Freestyle sessions are 80-minutes. Skate rentals are available.

Lasker Rink in Central Park Run Dates: na North End of Park near 110th Street and Lenox Avenue New York Phone: 917-492-3856 This is the choice for a more intimate skating experience. In addition to public skating, the Lasker Rink Skating School offers lessons and other activities.

Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers Run Dates: Year-Round Chelsea Piers, Pier 61 (23rd Street) New York Phone: 212-336-6100 This year-round facility offers general skating, lessons, hockey, camps, parties and more. Skate and helmet rentals are available. Check out Wonderland on Ice for your skating and hockey equipment, as well as skate sharpening.

The Rink at Rockefeller Center Run Dates: na 5th Avenue between 49th & 50th Streets New York Phone: 212-332-7654 The Rink at Rockefeller Center is one of the most popular winter attractions in New York. This 122-foot by 59-foot rink can get crowded with up to 150 skaters. Fees are based on a timed session; skate rentals and lessons are available. You can also host a party at The Rink.

Wollman Rink in Central Park Run Dates: na Central Park South and 6th Avenue Entrance New York Phone: 212-439-6900 With a great Central Park location, the Wollman Rink hosts open skating, hockey, skating lessons, and organized parties.
