Irving Plaza originally opened as Irving Hall in 1860 as a home for balls, lectures, and concerts. The present, rebuilt structure opened in 1888 and spent the next 90 years finding its identity, transitioning from a German Theatre to a burlesque house, Yiddish theatre, French and Soviet film house, and Polish Army Vet community center.

In 1978, Irving Plaza was converted into a rock music venue and has since hosted acts such as Talking Heads, the Ramones, U2, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, establishing its history as New York City’s premier music venue. Today, Irving Plaza continues to be a major stepping stone on the career path of hundreds of artists every year. Note that for a short period of time, this venue was known as The Fillmore. The Irving Plaza is one of the top New York City venues for concerts and other events. Don't miss some of the biggest names in music as they come to New York City area's Irving Plaza to perform live.
