The station is underground beneath Madison Square Garden, between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue and between 31st and 34th Streets. The original Penn Station was constructed by the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1901 to 1910. It was demolished in 1963 and replaced in 1969 with the current station.
