The Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, formerly the Royale Theater, is owned by the Shubert Organization. This theater is generally considered the finest mid-sized theater on Broadway, and gets its pick of straight plays. It was built in 1927; seating capacity is 1,078. As one of the Great White Way Broadway Theaters, this theater is located in the famous Broadway Theater District, home to over 40 theaters within a 10 block strip of Manhattan (from 53rd Street to 42nd Street, between 6th and 8th Avenues).
